Environmental Stewardship Committee

The Environmental Stewardship Committee at Davis Drive Elementary is working with staff, teachers, students, and Wake County officials to recycle the following items:

  • Paper: DDE participates in Wake County's Feed The Bin program to recycle the school's used paper. DDE students help by collecting the paper from the classrooms weekly.
  • Plastic Bottles: Bottles are collected in the cafeteria, hallway, and teachers' lounge for recycling.
  • Glue Sticks and Tape Dispensers: Each classroom has a shoe box for collecting these used items. If you use these things at home, please have your child add the empty items to the shoe box!
  • Drink Pouches and Chip Bags: There are containers in the cafeteria for collecting these empty items.

We send the drink pouches, chip bags, glue sticks, and tape dispensers to Terracycle, and they send money to the DDE PTA.  It's WIN-WIN-WIN, for our kids, the earth, and DDE!

If you would like more information or are interested in helping with the recycling efforts, please email Kirsten.hope@hotmail.com.
